Of Mice and Men

Of mice and men, written by John Steinback is depciting vivid picture of inner conflict of oneself.
George is a true friend of Lennie, a mentally retarded guy. George took care of Lennie since he was young and sacrificed himself for Lennie. When Lennie got in to trouble because of his untolerabe dsire to touch soft things, George was one to get him out of trouble. Evertime George gets Lennie out of trouble he had to move his job with Lennie. If it wasn't for Lennie, George could have had a better life for himself. However, George never abandoned his friend. George and Lennie finds another job at a ranch to 'make up a stake'.Nonetheless, Lennie gets into trouble again, this time a bigger one. He murdered Curely's wife. Lennie runs away with a gun to the bush as George once told him in case Lennie gets in to trouble again. Unlike other troubles that Lennie and George had, George cannot find a way to escape. If he does not kill Lennie, Curley would shoot Lennie. Eventually, George chooses to kill Lennie.
This inner conflict that George has gone through at the end of the novel was foreshadowed before. When almost everyone in the ranch hated Candy's old dog for being stinky and useless, Cnady had to choose whether to kill his dog by himself or to let Slim to kill it. He decides to let Slim kill the dog but he regrets it by repeating the word " I should not have let anyone else to kill my dog, I should have killed my dog.." This may have influenced George to make such decision after his inner conflict.
George and Candy's inner conflict shows how the human beings have to make hard decision and it is their mission to choose better side.
